5 Important life lessons from Oprah Winfrey
Oprah has been a single constant person that I look up since young, watching the Oprah Winfrey show at a very young age, watching her make a difference in peoples life has definitely inspired me.
Your past does not define you.
This is one of the biggest lesson that I learned from Oprah because she was from a background of poverty, where she struggled and took every step with certainty to change her future for a better life. Only because SHE believed she could change it. The story of where her grandma tells her to learn how to hang clothes out to earn a decent living in the future, lead her to decide she needs to educate herself and change her future for the better still inspires me.
Pearls
You are not the product of your circumstances. You are a composite of all the things you believe, and all the places you believe you can go. Your past does not define you. You can step out of your history and create a new day for yourself. Even if the entire culture is saying, "You can't." Even if every single possible bad thing that can happen to you does. You can keep going forward.
Just keeping swimming & swimming & swimming...
2. Be Courageous
“You get in life what you have the courage to ask for.”
She believed that she had a greater purpose in live , not just to live the mundane American Dream, she wanted to break past conditioning and set herself up for a better life. She had the courage to stand up for her worth was, she applied for , she showed up although she was not 100% confident. She had the courage to take up challenges and improve herself along the way.
3.Being Optimistic
“I am a woman in process. I’m just trying like everybody else. I try to take every conflict, every experience, and learn from it. Life is never dull.”
In every challenge, she remained optimistic, showed up and believed in the greatness of serving her purpose.
4.Let go of fears and be confident
Even when she was ridiculed for being the brown women with big hair and not a size 6, she still stayed confident and believed in herself. Although there were moments she experienced self- doubt, wanted to be skinnier, wanted to speak a certain way , she picked herself up , embraced her non traditional 'TV face'. In embracing herself she was able to serve her true purpose and become successful.
“Are you ready to stop colluding with a culture that makes so many of us feel physically inadequate? Say goodbye to your inner critic, and take this pledge to be kinder to yourself and others”.
5.Work hard
“What I know is, is that if you do work that you love, and the work fulfils you, the rest will come.”
She persevered through, worked long hours and enjoyed the process. She focused on helping people who came on her shows to feel better, she learnt new things along the way and inspired others to do the same. The revenue of all her hardwork came along. She became the TV icon and The Oprah Winfrey show was aired for 20years ,becoming the highest-rated talk show in TV history.

Highly recommend everyone to read this book.
Everyone has a purpose. And, according to Oprah Winfrey, “Your real job in life is to figure out as soon as possible what that is, who you are meant to be, and begin to honor your calling in the best way possible.”
That journey starts right here.
